What is implantation bleeding

Implantation bleeding is light spotting or bleeding that occurs when a fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. It typically occurs 6-12 days after ovulation and may be mistaken for a light period or premenstrual spotting.

Implantation bleeding is caused by the process of the fertilized egg burrowing into the thick lining of the uterus. This can cause small blood vessels to break, resulting in light bleeding or spotting.

Implantation bleeding is usually lighter and shorter in duration than a typical menstrual period. It may last for a few hours or up to a few days, but it usually does not require medical treatment.

It's important to note that not all women experience implantation bleeding, and it is not a reliable indicator of pregnancy. Other symptoms of early pregnancy may include nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness, and a missed period.

If you are experiencing abnormal vaginal bleeding or are concerned about your fertility, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider.
